The Confederation of African Football has discarded Enyimba’s plan to play their home games in the Confederation Cup at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Instead, the continent’s soccer governing body has ordered the Aba giants to host their next home game against Williamsville of Ivory Coast at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
The Peoples Elephant have been playing both domestic and continental games this season at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar as the massive renovation on their home ground in Aba continue
CAF suspended the Enyimba Stadium following complaints from opposing teams on the poor state of the playing surface.
“Our Confederation Cup game against Williamsville AC would be played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt on July 18, according to CAF. Uyo would no longer be the venue,” reads a tweet on Enyimba’s official Twitter handle on Monday.
The seven-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions are third on Group C standings with three points following a 2-0 win against Djoliba of Mali and 3-0 loss to CARA Brazzaville of Congo in their opening two games.
Williamsville are top of the group with four points, followed by CARA Brazzaville with three points, same as Enyimba, but with superior goal difference.
