2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Awards: Modric Named MVP, Kane Wins Golden Boot, Courtois Bags Golden Glove

After their 2010 FIFA World Cup loss to France, Croatia midfielder Luka Modric was picked as the Golden Ball (most valuable player) Award of the Mundial.

The Real Madrid star was the driving force of the Vatreni side that surpassed expectations by making it to the final of the competition.

And he was rewarded for his exceptional showing despite his side going down to 4-2 defeat to France in the final.

Modric scored a goal each in Croatia’s opening two games against Nigeria and Argentina.

He also picked three man-of-the-match honours  in the tournament.

Belgium winger, Eden Hazard, and Antoine Griiezmann came second and third respectively.

Harry Kane went home with the Golden Boot Award for emerging the highest goals scorer in the tournament.

The Englishman scored six goals in the competition.

Antoine Griezmann and Romelu Lukaku with four and three goals came second and third respectively.

France forward Kylian Mbappe was named as the best young player of the competition.

Thibaut Courtois emerged the best goalkeeper picking the Golden Glove Award.

The Spain national team went home with the Fair Play Award.
