Ibadan Grammar School, Molete, Anuolu Group of Schools and United Secondary School, Agugu dominated the maiden edition of the Omo Oloore School Sports Competition organized by Hon. Adedapo Lam Adesina, representing Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Abuja.
The completion’s grand finale which was held at St. Luke’s College, Molete on 26th July, 2018 witnessed the presentation of trophies, sporting kits, including jerseys, sucks, shin guards and soccer balls, as well as cash prizes to winners, runner up and other participating schools.
The grand finale of the competition witnessed the presence of important dignitaries, including the representatives from the state Ministry of Education, Alhaji B. A. Olayiwola and Mr. T. E. Oguniran.
Omo Oloore schools sports is a sports package under the Omo Oloore Sports Development Scheme for public and private schools, including secondary and primary sections to discover and nurture promising talents that will lift the glory of sports in the constituency and the state at large in various competitions at both the national and the international levels.
While speaking at the event through telephone call, Hon. Lam Adesina, who was unavoidably absent emphasized that he would not relent in giving the best programmes that will contribute meaningfully to the development of the people to his constituency.
Omo Oloore disclosed that the school sports programme is just one of the developmental programmes he has lined up for the development of youths in his territory. He assured the good people of Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency to remain calm, particularly in this period of trial, as everything is under control.
In his goodwill message, the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela, who was represented by Alhaji Olayiwola commended Hon. Dapo Lam Adesina for his efforts in the development of education and sports in his constituency.
While urging all the participating schools to embrace whatever the outcome of the competitions good faith as there is will be winner and loser in every contest, Olowofela commended them for demonstrating high level of maturity throughout the competition.
Meanwhile, United Secondary School, Agugu emerged winner of the soccer tournament part of the competition in the public secondary school category defeating Community Grammar School, Kudeti via penalty shootout which ended in six goals to five.
In the other finals decided Monday, 23rd, 2018 at Omo Oloore Mini Football Stadium at Oke-‘Badan High School, Oluyoro Oke-Offa, Marvelous Group of School emerged winner defeating Caleepha Group of School by five goals to one. Lam Adesina Model School emerged winner in the public primary category, while Tarbiyah Islamiyah Group of School emerged winner in the private primary category defeating St. David’s Primary School and Marvelous Group of School respectively.
Ibadan Grammar School, Molete and Anuolu Group of Schools dominated the athletics part of the competition. Ibadan Grammar School won three trophies and emerged first runner up at the two occasions, while Anuolu Group of Schools won seven trophies and emerged first runner up at one occasion.
Other schools that displayed wonderful performance include Community Grammar School, Marvelous Group of School, St. David’s High School and Christ Church Mapo School 7.
