It was a memorable day for Professor Charles Olutayo Adesina of the University of Ibadan when he joined other four eggheads to be inaugurated as Fellows of the Nigerian Academy of Letters.
The other three who got honoured on August 9, 2018 were Prof Raufu Adebiyi Adebisi, Prof Isaac Deji Ayegboyin, and Professor Emeritus Godwin Sogolo.
The event, which was held at the J.F Ade-Ajayi Auditorium in the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, was attended by academics across different fields, as well as family, friends and well wishers of the new Fellows.
Renowned literary arts scholar and newspaper columnist, Prof Olu Obafemi, presided over the investiture, while Prof Siyan Oyeweso of Osun State University and Director, Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding, Osogbo, delivered the Convocation Lecture under the title, Plural Loyalties And Multiple Identities In Post-Independence Nigeria.
In his words of appreciation, Professor Olutayo Adesina’s junior brother, Femi Adesina who is also President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity thanked all those who rejoiced with the family.
His words “The Adesinas appreciate all those who felicitated with us, particularly on Facebook and beyond, since the time notice of the investiture was given. We also cherish those who graced the event. We shall always have cause to rejoice with you and your family. Amen.”
Professor Olutayo Adesina, in his own message of appreciation thanked God for His mercy. He also hailed his charming wife, children, other family members, all his current and old students, the entire University of Ibadan community and friends for supporting his carreer all along.
“Ire ni a o maa ba ara wa se o. Amin”.
