Barely a week after the release of June subventions to State-owned tertiary institutions in the state, Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has directed the release of another N125m as July subventions to Tertiary institutions in the state.

News of the directive was conveyed through a statement by Kwara State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu in Ilorin on Wednesday.

Banu said the directive was in keeping with the state government’s revert to monthly subvention for the tertiary institutions and in keeping with the Governor Ahmed’s pledge to pay their July subvention promptly.

He said that before the release of the June subvention, Governor Ahmed had also approved the release of N53m as part Payment of the accreditation cost for the state operated tertiary institutions.

The Commissioner said the state Governor’s approval for the release of the N125m July subvention follows the earlier directive that August Salaries of government workers in the state be paid immediately in order to ensure workers enjoy their sallah celebrations.

Banu maintained that the salary funds will be released immediately as directed by Governor Ahmed although the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) is yet to consider and release monthly allocations for August to federal, state and local governments.

Banu said the Kwara State Government is fully committed to the welfare of workers and other citizens in the state and will do everything to uphold this despite current financial challenges.
