The National Association of Games and Sports Teachers (NAPSGAST)Ibadan South East Local Government chapter has honoured the Minority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige in appreciation of his numerous contributions towards sports development at primary schools in the said local government area.
The award was presented to Hon. Ige during the presentation of financial assistance he organized for some primary school pupils in public schools who just got admission into secondary school so as to aid their registration and academic activities.
The beneficiaries were pupils that the Lawmaker had offered scholarship to undergo training at Shooting Stars Football Club’s Academy following their brilliant performances at the football competition he organized for pupils in public primary schools in Ibadan South East Local Government earlier this year.
While presenting the award, the Chairman NAPSGAST, Ibadan South East chapter, Comrade Temitope Ogundepo said the association decided to honour the amiable lawmaker for his commitment to education and sports development so as to appreciate him and encourage him to do more.He recalled that apart from given scholarship to the beneficiaries,Hon. Ige had after the football competition, paid common entrance fee for all the 108 pupils that participated in the competition, gave them free exercise books and other education and sport materials.
While attesting to the sterling performance of the Lawmaker, the Technical Director of 3SC Football Academy, Comrade Adeyemo Ayodeji, Senior Lecturer from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Dr Adetunbi Saheed Ige, Comrade Ekundayo Balogun and one of the beneficiaries’ parents, Mr Adedeji Fasakin all commended Hon. Ademola Ige for investing in the education of the children of the downtrodden people.
In his speech at the occasion, Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige popularly called “Ige Again” said that he decided to render financial assistance to the children because of his commitments to ensuring quality life, uplift and encouragement for talented children of the under privileged.
He used the occasion to inform residents of C.A.C. Oke Agbara, Eyin Grammar, and Owolemi Street, Odo-Oba to start using the new industrial motorized borehole he recently sunk in these communities as dry season approaches.
He also called on the residents and commuters at Orita Aperin, Oniyere, Adesola andenvirons, Eleta-Akatapa-Odinjo and its environs as well as Iletuntun-Oke-Odo-Ilupeju-Kudeti and Idi Arere area to cooperate with the technicians that are working on the maintenance of the street lights he installed in these areas but had been destroyed by rainstorm.
Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige who is the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Ibadan South East Constituency II, called on the electorates to vote massively for all the candidates of the party in the forthcoming general elections in 2019.
