Members of the Ogun State Assembly’s Committee on Youth and Sports led by Hon. Harrison Adeyemi, have challenged the State Ministry of Youth and Sports to evolve more plans towards re-positioning sports to build network of opportunities for the benefit of youth across the State.
Adeyemi, who gave the task, while leading other members including Honourables Victor Fasanya, Jimi Otukoya and Tunde Sanusi, in continuation of the budget assessment visits to MDAs in the State, explained that sporting activities could be utilized at a tool to advance an inclusive and sustainable development.
The lawmakers commended the Management of the Ministry for collaborating with private sector in identifying abundant talents who were being groomed to become sport ambassadors in the future.
Earlier in his presentation, the Commissioner-in-charge of the Ministry, Afolabi Afuape pointed out that the Ministry was able to achieve 47.16 % of its revenue target, while different medals were won in field and track games by athletes who represented the State at the just concluded 2018 Youth Games in Ilorin.
The Committee also assessed the budget of the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta and Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.
