Super Eagles’ midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has been named to the U21 Team of the Week from Europe’s top five leagues that is the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1.
The Leicester City star put on a brilliant display in team’s goalless draw with Burnley last weekend and was subsequently named as Man of the Match before making the Premier League Team of the Week.
Football statistics website Whoscored.com has selected the best rated U21 from Europe’s top five leagues across the weekend action, with the Nigeria international named in central midfield along with Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.
On Ndidi they wrote : ”Under difficult circumstances, Leicester were held 0-0 at home by Burnley on Saturday. The Foxes will feel unfortunate not to have come away with all three points and Wilfred Ndidi was particularly impressive for Claude Puel’s side.
”The Nigeria international remarkably won 10 aerial duels against the Clarets, while also completing five tackles and interceptions combined.
“Ndidi also had five efforts on goal and registered two key passes in an all-action display.”
For the first time in 32 months, Ndidi will not suit up for the Super Eagles in a competitive match when they face South Africa this weekend after a late yellow card he was shown against Libya earned him an automatic one-match ban.
