Things are looking up for the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the state chapter of the party in the United Kingdom (UK) has expressed readiness to collaborate with his Independent Campaign Group, an overall umbrella for the Sanwo-Olu gubernatorial project.
This was contained in a statement signed by the UK coordinator of the Independent Campaign Group (ICG), Hon. Ibrahim Yusuf and made available to PMParrot on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the chairman of the Lagos APC UK Chapter, Hon. Tayo Sodehinde with other party leaders have agreed to work together as a team towards the success of the party’s candidate.
“We are marching forward, we are waxing stronger, Mr Sanwo-Olu will win the election, he has the capacity, he has the experience, he has the wherewithal to reposition Lagos state no doubt about it, Sanwo-Olu is the next governor”, the statement quoted Sodehinde.
Ibrahim Yusuf, who is also the organising secretary of the All progressives Congress (APC) in the United Kingdom said that “with our recent collaboration, it is obvious that the Progressives in the United Kingdom are ready to take the lead in the forthcoming campaign of the APC Gubernatorial candidate.
“All the progressive minded people of Lagos state have now queued behind the APC candidate, and ready to put in their best to ensure his success in the election scheduled to be held in 2019,” said Yusuf.
The Director General of the ICG, Honourable Tayo Ayinde had visited the United Kingdom to ensure a lasting peace between the UK ICG and the Lagos APC to ensure a smooth running of the campaign in the UK. Ayinde, a prolific politician and astute campaign organiser vowed to lead the gubernatorial campaign of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos to absuccessful end.
The ICG was launched in London a few weeks ago in the presence of The Campaign Director, Hon Tayo Ayinde, other dignitaries include Philip Idaewor, who is also the chairman of the APC in the United Kingdom.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu emerged APC governorship candidate in the next general election after he scored 970,851 votes while incumbent governor of the state, Mr Akinwumi Ambode polled 72,901 votes.
