How Parrot Xtra Publisher, Olayinka Agboola Bagged Three Recognition Awards In Three Months

As a man of many parts, Mr. Olayinka Agboola, the publisher of Parrot Xtra Magazine/PMParrot has, in the last three months been bestowed with three special recognition awards.

The awards were in recognition of Agboola’s contributions towards the development of journalism, the publishing industry and humanity as well as his advocacy for safety awareness in the state and the country at large.

On October 6th, 2018, A Worthy Ambassador Award was presented to Parrot Xtra’s Chief Reporter by the management of Sultan Bello Hall, University of Ibadan in recognition of his achievements and selfless contributions to humanity and Nigeria.

December also started for him on a good note as the Road Accident Information and Rescue Organization gave him an award of excellence on December 1. The award was in appreciation of the famed Publisher’s efforts in championing safety awareness and rescue of lives in Nigeria.

December 9th, 2018 witnessed the recording of another feat at the prestigious Jogor Events Centre in Ibadan, where a Pacesetter Entertainment Recognition Award (PERA) was conferred on Mr. Olayinka Agboola.

The Publisher and many other important personalities were honoured for their contributions, consistency and the development of their various professions in the state and beyond.

The event, the second of its kind was put together by the C.O.K Media of Rotimi Martins popularly known as Alariwo of Africa.

Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Toye Arulogun, while presenting the 2018 PERA Recognition Award to Olayinka Agboola, commended him for his effort, consistency and development of journalism over the years.

He described Agboola as one of the media practitioners who have keyed into the restoration and repositioning agenda of Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s present administration in the state.

In his acceptance speech, Parrot Xtra’s Chief Reporter, Agboola dedicated the award to late Alhaji Lamidi Onaolapo Adesina, who was a one-time governor in Oyo State for the opportunity he gave him to serve him as a press secretary during his administration in the year 2000.

While recounting his experience in the over 14 years’ sojourn in the murky waters of journalism, he thanked God for the support and recognition so far.

Parrot’s Chief Reporter attributed the success and recognition to support of his wife, Oluwatoyin, Olanrewaju Agiri and other members of Parrot Xtra crew.

He also used the opportunity to commend the organizers of the event for a job well done.

Former retired AIG, Tunji Alapini, Dr. Shina Adegunle, Chief Femi Alafe Aluko, Semiu Adenekan (D J Semight), actress Toyin Adegbola (Ajoke Asewo), Yemi Sonde were among those who graced the occasion to celebrate with organizers and awardees.

Other entertainment personalities present included Antar Laniyan, Saka, Sony Neji, Comedian AY, Laf Up, Obama, Remote, Evangelist Funmi Aragbaye and others.

DSTV’s Doyin Kukoyi, Mercy Aigbe and Femi Adebayo anchored the well attended event.

Pacesetter Entertainment Recognition Awards (PERA) was established to acknowledge, encourage and celebrate excellence amongst indigenes and residents of Oyo State who have made indelible marks in their chosen careers.
