Nigeria as a country is blessed with many talents that if properly managed can make the country one of the respected among the comity of nation.

One of those talents is Solomon Sunday Ojo, a graduate of Technical College, Oyo in Oyo State, who has promised to be one of the few individuals that will manufacture made in Nigeria cars if required sponsors and assistance are provided.

Mr. Ojo, an indigene of Ondo State, who has been using aluminum sheet to build body of cars, buses and helicopters, disclosed during a chat with our reporter recently that if he has sponsors to carry out his project, he will manufacture vehicles that can compete with those made and imported from abroad.

He explained that the idea of using different kinds of materials like cardboard, roofing sheet, aluminum and plastic sheets to make cars which he named SOLO was conceived when he was just twelve years old.

According to Solomon Ojo, “the first body of motor I made was out of cardboard, later when water wet it and started to cut into pieces, then I discovered how to use roofing sheets. I built body of Solo car, Solo bus, Solo helicopter, Solo ship and Solo sport car.

“After a year that I have been using roofing sheet and I discovered that the roofing sheet starts to rust, then I sat down and thought of materials that I would use that would last for a long time. That was how the idea of aluminum sheet surfaced. I have used aluminum to build car, bus and many others.”

Mr. Solomon Ojo further noted that Nigeria is blessed with many talented people that can produce many things being imported from abroad; however, lack of sponsors to bankroll the project is the major problem.

He opined that the economic importance of the project is that many people will have access to employment opportunity, the country’s foreign reserve will as well improve by the time Nigeria-made vehicles are being exported to other countries. He added that it will make Nigeria one of the respected countries in the world.
