
The governor elect in Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has exhibited his love for the game of golf by joining the ladies golfers at the prestigious Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) to celebrate the annual 2019 Ladies Open which came to an end recently.
Makinde who is actually a member of the IGC played nine holes none competitive golf game on last Thursday, five holes on Saturday and also graced the closing ceremony of the two-in-one event that commenced in Ibadan since Wednesday.
While addressing golfers during the dinner and closing ceremony the Makinde restated his commitment to the activities of the club and development of golf by giving the game good attention in terms of promotion and funding when he resumes at the Agodi Government House.
The lady captain of IGC Dr. Tope Farombi who welcomed Engr. Makinde who came with his wife Mrs. Tamunomini Makinde and many chieftains of the People Democratic Party to the dinner thanked the newly elected governor for finding time out of his busy scheduled to felicitate with the almost 200 lady golfers that came from all walks of life to participate in the golf tournament.
She however urged Mrs. Makinde to also embrace the game of golf by joining the ladies’ section of the IGC, describing golf as a good sport and a wonderful way to maintaining a perfect wellness and improved mental alertness.
In the mean time, a woman Police Racheal Danjuma of IBB Golf Club won the first prize of the tournament with 79 gross while Evelyn Oyome emerged as the runners up retuning with 76 gross. The immediate past Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Prof. Temitope Alonge won the veteran men’s category.
