The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service has announced that despite the fact that the electioneering process slowed down its revenue drive, it has generated a total of N7.77Bn in the first quarter of the year 2019.

The Chairman, State Internal Revenue Service, Adekunle Adeosun stated this while taking his turn to present the budget performance of the agency at the ongoing budget appraisal exercise for MDAs by members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by Hon Victor Fasanya at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan.

Adekunle, represented by the Director of Administration and Supplies, Mr Dahunsi Ogunleye, explained  that the revenue was generated from taxes and other licenses, promising that concerted efforts were being made to shore up tax revenue in the subsequent quarters.

He remarked that the strategies included continuous tax payers enlightenment programmes, effective monitoring of tax agents, tax audits for organisations to recover tax arrears, enumeration and enrollment of informal sectors for tax payment.

Also, the State Ministry of Finance, Office of the Governor, which  includes the State Liason Offices, Bureaux of Protocol and Ceremonial, Government House and General Services, Political Affairs and Administration, as well as Office of the Accountant General had their budget performance appraised by the lawmakers.
