Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s government in Ekiti State has been commended for increasing the monthly allocation for the payment of gratuity from 10 Million to 100 Million naira and also for prompt payment of pensioners in the state.
The Chairman of the National Union of Pensioners (NUP), Ekiti State Chapter, Elder Ayo Kumapayi gave the commendation during a courtesy visit of the pensioners to the State Commissioner for Local Government, and Community Development, Prof. Adio Afolayan in his office in Ado-Ekiti.
Elder Kumapayi lauded the Fayemi-led administration for giving priority to the welfare of pensioners by paying the pensions and gratuity regularly despite the meager amount of accruing to the coffers of the state government.
The NUP Chairman who disclosed that about sixty pensioners from the state service will be collecting their gratuities very soon pleaded with the government to also expedite action on the payment of the gratuity of the local government pensioners also adding that pensioners will continue to appreciate and pray for the administration of Governor Fayemi for his love and consideration for them.
The State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Prof. Adio Afolayan in his response thanked the pensioners for appreciating the government‘s kind gesture towards them.
He described Dr. Kayode Fayemi as a man of his words that will not relent in his effort at delivering dividend of democracy to the people of the State.
