A stakeholders in the tourism industry has advocated for a robust synergy between the game of golf and the tourism sector.
The team leader at the popular Ufitfly (Absolute Success Travels & Tour) Ibadan, Evangelist Ajibola Ogunkeyede recently made the call while speaking with newsmen at the Ibadan Golf Club (IGC).
The tour broker highlighted many benefits derivable from a good collaboration between sports and tourism, using golf as a good example because of the elitist nature of the game of golf which administrators are yet to harness.
He, however, called on the Federal Ministry of Sports to look into fashioning out a healthy collaboration between it and that of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, claiming that the results will be mind blowing if a good synergy could exist between them.
“There are lots of benefits derivable from a good synergy between tourism and sports, especially this game of golf that involves large personnel when a big golf tournament is being organized.
“We have identified that at UfitFly and that is why we always invest in, and support golf. The game has great potential to boost tourism industry if it’s well harnessed, I pray our government opens this vista and key into the vision”, said UfitFly boss.
Ogunkeyede, a member of IGC has pledged to work with the present executives of the club to institute and solely bankroll a kitty for beginners in the name of his firm and as part of efforts to support and develop golf at the grassroots.
It would be recalled that the travel firm is always involved in major tournaments and Kitty such as The Lady’s Open, IGC’s Captain Tourney being organized at the prestigious Ibadan Golf Club.
