It was a time to praise and appreciate God, as the Oyo State House of Assembly Christian Community held a commendation service to honour the outgoing Christian lawmakers for a successful tenure.
The commendation service was held at the Parliament Chapel, Secretariat, where members took turn to give account of what God has done in their lives as members in the state’s assembly during their tenure.
Speaker, Hon. Joshua Olagunju Ojo, in his message expressed gratitude to almighty God for the successes recorded so far. He stated that they have laid a foundation that is solid enough for incoming lawmakers to build on.
Hon. Olagunju implored the incoming members to put God first in their activities and they will see His goodness at the end of the day.
The Speaker also urged the outgoing members to keep walking in the way of God in their journey through life.
In his message, Deacon Adegbola Akinyanju admonished political office holders to imbibe the spirit of giving thanks to God in any situation that may come their ways.
Deacon Akinyanju, while reading from the Bible, the book of Psalms 92 verses 1-12, said it is imperative for all mankind to appreciate God for all He has done, and for them to receive more of His blessings.
The President of the Chapel, Hon. Olusegun Ajanaku, and Chaplain, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola identified the attribute of giving of all Christian lawmakers as a major factor that enabled the building project of the chapel to be completed during their tenure.
They appreciated the congregation of the chapel for their support so far in the journey and prayed that God should continue to be with them as they move on with His work.
Some of the highlights of the programme included observation of a minute silence in honour of late Speaker, Michael Adeyemo and Hon. Gideon Aremu, testimonies as well as special prayers for the outgoing legislators.
