The governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has enjoined the good people of the state to sustain the peace and tranquility they showed during the Ramadan period.
Makinde made this plea on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital while speaking with newsmen at his Ikolaba Residence.
According to Governor Makinde, Oyo citizens should support his administration to move the state forward irrespective of their party affiliation, adding that the concept of being ‘one’s brother’s keeper’ means that the privileged should make those around them happy and use the Eid-il-Fitr celebration to reach out to the less privileged in the society.
In a related development, the Head of Service of Oyo State, Mrs. Amidat Agboola has congratulated Muslims in the state and Nigerians as a whole on the successful completion of the month-long Ramadan fasting, urging them to imbibe the teachings of Prophet Muhammed.
Agboola in a statement signed by her media officer, Fasasi Ismail in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, urged Muslim faithful to imbibe the teachings of Prophet Muhammed on the essence of Ramadan fasting.
According to her “since Ramadan fasting symbolizes the period of spiritual rejuvenation, it is expected that our Muslim brothers and sisters will continue to move closer to Allah, even after the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations”.
The number one civil servant in Oyo State, however, said that Muslims, particularly the Civil and public Servants in the State should use the occasion of the celebrations to pray for peace, tranquility in the State and successful tenure of the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in Oyo State.
Agboola enjoined civil and public servants to be dedicated to duties and be productive so as to reciprocate the gesture of Governor Makinde whose top priority is to improve the welfare of the workforce.
