Engineer Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, Friday, inaugurated the State Advisory Council as part of its efforts aimed at enhancing effective governance in the state.
While addressing members of the advisory council at the Exco Chambers of the Governor’s office, Governor Seyi Makinde, said the establishment of the council was aimed at ensuring that the government taps from the wealth of experience of elders and opinion moulders in the state, adding that the appointment of the members was not politically motivated at anytime as being insinuated.
According to him, the 10 member advisory council is the first of its kind in the state and the main objective of the council is to advise the government from time to time on policy implementation.
“The 10 member advisory council is expected to augment the knowledge and skills of the leadership of this administration in order to have more effective guide of the government. They are expected to be readily available when there is need for their advice.
He, however, urged the advisory council to be up and doing in the task given to them and be readily available when there is need for expert advice.
The 10 member advisory council include: the former Deputy Chief Whip in the Senate, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola as Chairman of the Committee, while other members include, the former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Mulika Akande Adeola; Chief Jacob Adetoro and Barr. Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli.
Also in the list is: Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN); Mr. Joseph Olaitan, Mni; Hon. Kamil Akinlabi; Senator Monsurat Sunmonu; Chief Gboyega Laoye and Prof. Kolapo Hamzat.
However, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli did not show up at the inauguration  and has since given reason for not being there.
He told Nigerian Tribune in an interview that he was in Abuja while the event was taking place.
