Residents of Omi-Adio in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, have lauded the chairman of Iba Gani Adams’ faction of the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) in Ido Local Government area, Comrade Muritala Ifawale Adekola a.k.a E le Omo Buruku Danu).
They made the commendation on Thursday during a press conference at Omi-Adio, Ibadan.
The leader of the youths, Jimoh Agbabiaka said Comrade Adekola deserves the commendation because he has been single handedly helping in combating crime in the community.
“Whenever there is a crime in sight in the community, and we put a distress call to him, he responds to the call by chasing the hoodlums away and most of the time, he gets them arrest.
“The community can not thank him enough but all we know is that God will continually bless him and his family.
“Before now, Omi Adio has been a haven for criminals. Infact, we don’t sleep at all because nobody knows what is going to befall them. We thank the OPC chairman for helping us to combat the crime. Crime in this area has almost reduced to zero level.
“Ifawaĺe has really tried for us at Omi Adio in the area of making sure no crime is committed. We can now sleep with our two eyes closed,” he posited.
In a telephone conversation with the OPC chairman, Adekola, said he was disappointed to see some of the suspects he handed over to the police roaming the streets of the community.
“Just recently OPC arrested some criminals in the community and as law abiding persons, we handed them over to the police only to see some of the suspects parading in the area.
“Even, some of the suspects have been telling some people that they are going to deal with us.
“I don’t know the rationale behind their release because they committed a crime that ought to have led them to jail.
He called on the Nigeria Police Force to as a matter of urgency look into the circumstances that led to their release to avoid another reprisal from the released suspect on the community.
