More Trouble Ahead For Pinnick As CAF Tackles Him

Confederation of African Football, CAF, has denied receiving the sum of $500, 000 from the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to attend it’s Congress held in Cairo, Egypt.

CAF also made it clear that attending its Congresses are free for all eligible members association representatives with the confederation bearing all the costs.

It made the clarification in a memo dated June 30, 2019, and addressed to the Special Presidential Investigation Panel, SPIP, headed by Chief Okoi Obono-Obla.

The document was signed by Mouad Hajji, the African football ruling body’s General Secretary.

The document followed an earlier one dated June 6 by the SPIP requesting for clarification by the continental football body in view of NFF alleged claims it paid CAF $500, 000 to attend the 2015 General Congress.

“It appears that CAF did not receive any payment from the Nigeria Football Federation,” CAF letter to SPIP, reads in part.

“The participation of all the National Associations in the Congress is free and requires no contribution from the later to the holding of these General Assemblies and the expenses are borne by CAF for all the representatives of the participating federations.

“In conclusion, I confirm that no contribution from the Nigeria Football Federation has been received by CAF,” CAF concludes in their letter.

Recall that the SPIP has dragged NFF to court over alleged $8m corruption charges against the nation’s football body.
