The Chairman, Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort Centre, Engr. Dotun Sanusi and his wife, Chief (Mrs) Joyce Sanusi have been honoured with the Oyo State chapter of Police Community Relations Committee’s highest state’s awards, as the couple have now become Patron and Matron of the association.
The award presentation was held at the indoor sport complex of the resort, Akanran, Ibadan on August 5th, 2019.
Engr. Sanusi, who earlier was installed Mogaji of Olugbade Compound, Oja’ba, Ibadan by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, described the honour as another opportunity to serve the humanity and contribute his quota more to the security of the state and country in general.
He identified joint effort and cooperation between the community, which consists of people at grassroots and the police, who depend largely on the intelligent reports from the people as major tools to overcome lingering insecurity challenges facing the country.
While commending men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force, Chief Sanusi advised that they should be diligent and honest in their call to service, saying that it is the only good performance and service to humanity that will make them to stand out among others.
The state Chairman of the committee, Rev. Peter Omofoye acknowledged that the efforts of Engineer Sanusi in enhancing security in the state cannot be overlooked.
Speaking on the qualities that prompted the association to bestow Engr. Sanusi and his wife the honour, Rev. Omofoye described them as lovers of security.
He noted that the only measure to improve on policing system in Nigeria is community policing, maintaining that all hands must be on deck as each and everyone must be ready to play his part from the grassroots to the national to ensure that security of lives and properties is guaranteed.
The PCRC Chairman called on well to do people in the state to toe the line of Dotun Sanusi to support efforts of the police to reduce the rate of crime to the barest minimum.
In her response, Mrs. Joyce Sanusi, who was the first Matron of the association, while appreciating the gesture of the PCRC for the recognition, announced that “it will give us encouragement and motivation to do more in giving back to the society”.
