Earlier in her remarks, the Chairman State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Chief (Mrs.) Monisola Oloro, said that the ongoing efforts of the Ekiti state government to prevent Maternal and Perinatal Mortality is taking a leading role in the reduction of Maternal, neonatal and child mortality among his counterparts all over the country.

“The purpose of the training is to equip the Community Health Extension Workers with appropriate knowledge on child birth, to improve the skills of CHEWs in Maternal and child health care services and to enable CHEWs acquire skills in early diagnosis and recognition of ‘at-risk’ pregnant women for referral “. The Chairman noted.

Mrs. Oloro urged the participants to make the best use of the opportunity created by the training.

In her remark, the Permanent Secretary, Primary Health Care Development Agency, Pharmacist Olabisi Arogundade, appreciated Dr. Kayode Fayemi for giving priority to the health of Ekiti Mothers and children which now takes prominence in Ekiti health care service delivery under his administration.

Pharm. Arogundade also charged participants to always encourage mothers and pregnant women to patronise government health centres for skilled medical services.
