...Salisu Yusuf...smiles at last...

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the return of Salisu Yusuf as assistant Super Eagles coach to the team following a one-year suspension for his involvement in a bribery incident on Thursday.

Salisu was slammed with the ban by the NFF Ethics Committee last year after he was found guilty of collecting a sum reported to be $1000. He was also fined $5000 for the offence.

Salisu was caught on camera receiving money to influence his team selection for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco where Nigeria finished second.

The NFF, in a statement on Thursday, stated that Salisu has been reinstated after serving his punishment.

“The Nigeria Football Federation has noted that the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Salisu Yusuf has now fully served the one–year suspension clamped on him last year,” the statement read.

“The Federation thanked Coach Imama Amapakabo for his sterling efforts while in charge of the U23 National Team in the absence of the suspended Yusuf, and for eventually seeing to the team’s qualification for the U23 AFCON.”

The 57-year-old is now expected to be in charge of the home-based Super Eagles side that will feature at the 2019 WAFU Cup of Nations in Senegal later this month.

The team will also face the Hawks of Togo in a 2020 CHAN qualifier next month.
