Makinde In Harvest Of Appointments, Gives Deputy Nine Aides

Engineer Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, Thursday, announced several appointments including those that will work with his deputy, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan.

In one of the appointments, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the March 9 governorship in the state, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), was announced as the Special Counsel to the Governor of Oyo State.

This was just as a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and candidate of the party for the Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency in the February 23 House of Representatives election, Asiwaju Yemi Aderibigbe, was also appointed as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Taiwo Adisa, indicated that Mr. Wale Onaolapo was appointed as the chairman of the Oyo State Security Trust Fund, while a former Principal Protocol Officer of the University of Ibadan, Mr Gboyega Badejo, was appointed as the Director-General (Protocol) to the Governor.

Ayorinde (SAN) an Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) and son of a former Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Timothy Ayorinde, earned the University of Oxford General Certificate (Law) intermediate LLB in 1983 and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London in 1985, before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School, Lagos.

He set up the law firm of B. Ayorinde & Co in 1990 and was elevated to the rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2005.

Ayorinde had previously served Oyo State in different capacities including being Pro-Chancellor, Chairman Governing Council of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso where he served for four years as well as the chairman of the Oyo State Committee on Prisons Decongestion.

Badejo, the new DG Protocol to the Governor, was until his appointment the Principal Protocol Officer at the University of Ibadan, where he bagged a degree in Education in 1995.

He is a member of the Protocol and Diplomacy International.

The appointment of nine aides for the office of the Deputy Governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan were conveyed in separate letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun.

The appointments took effect on 5 September.

Mr Omoetan Omolere was appointed as Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor on Media, while Mr Lateef Adebayo Yusuf and Mr Adesola Yaqub were appointed Senior Special Assistant (Political Matters) and Personal Assistant respectively.

The new SSA Media to the Deputy Governor, Mr. Omoetan, an indigene of Ilaje in Ondo State, has many years of experience as a journalist and Public Relations Consultant.

Engr Yusuf, the newly-appointed SSA on Political Matters to the Deputy Governor was a former Executive Director (Finance and Administration) at the Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority.

The new Personal Assistant to the Deputy Governor, Mr. Yaqub, hails from Igboho in Oorelope Local Government and has about 13 years of field experience in the Nigerian ICT/Telecoms space.

An Information Communication Technology (ICT) expert and leadership development coach, Yaqub holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Jos and a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology from the National Open University of Nigeria.

Other appointments made were those of Mrs. Aliu Taibat Adetutu (Special Assistant on Domestic); Engr. Lawal Olaniyi Lateef (Special Assistant on Project Monitoring); Mr. Timileyin Badiru (Special Assistant on Photography); Mr. Bukunmi Oyewole (Special Assistant on Online Media); Mrs. Jelila Nike Bidmus (Special Assistant on Administration) and Engr. Salawu Abisola Mariam (Special Assistant on Technical Projects).
