The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has promised to grant local governments and local council development areas (LCDAs) autonomy from May 29, 2027, if elected governor.
Alli made the pledge on Thursday during the inauguration of the Oyo State chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement and the presentation of 32 campaign vehicles at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, formerly Liberty Stadium, in Oke Ado, Ibadan.
“All our LCDAs and LGs will have autonomy on the day we are sworn in on May 29, 2027,” he said.
The APC candidate also expressed appreciation to the movement’s Grand Patron, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, for donating the vehicles to support the party’s campaign in Oyo State.
Alli pledged that the vehicles and other campaign materials donated by supporters would be used judiciously, adding that the APC was working to win back control of the state in the 2027 elections.
He said the party was also seeking the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and victory in the National Assembly and state House of Assembly elections.
Recalling the APC’s performance in Oyo State during the 2023 presidential election, Alli said the party was working to increase Tinubu’s vote tally in the state in 2027. He urged eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and turn out to vote for APC candidates.

Earlier, Chief Kestin Pondi, who represented Tompolo, said the 32 vehicles were donated to support grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu and other APC candidates in Oyo State.
Pondi expressed support for Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as necessary measures whose benefits, he said, would become more apparent over time.
“We will vote for President Tinubu to continue his reforms. Reforms are never easy in the beginning. That is what we are all experiencing now. But we will enjoy later. We must pay the sacrifice today for our children to enjoy in the future,” he said.
The National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Comrade Sunday Adekanbi Asuku, urged supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation, encourage eligible voters to collect their PVCs and conduct door-to-door campaigns ahead of the elections.
He also called on residents to participate in the electoral process and support Tinubu, Alli and other APC candidates.
The APC chairman for Oyo Central Senatorial District, Dr Joshua Oyebanji, who represented the party’s state chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo, thanked Tompolo for the donation and expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.
Similarly, the Oyo State Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Akinjide Kazeem Akinola, said the group aimed to improve on the votes Tinubu received in Oyo State in 2023.
“Oyo State gave President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the highest vote in the South West in 2023. We will give the president the highest vote in Nigeria in 2027. Let us work hard to achieve this,” Akinola said.
The movement said it would intensify its grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
