200 Windstorm Victims Receive Relief Materials From NEMA

About 200 victims of September 11th, 2018 windstorm of Kishi, Irepo Local Government and Atisbo Local Government in Oke-Ogun area part of Oyo State have benefited from the relief materials distributed by the National emergency management agency (NEMA).

The relief materials which included building materials, clothing, mattresses and toiletries were distributed to beneficiaries through the Oyo State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

In his address, the Southwest Zonal Director, NEMA, Mr. Slaku Bijimi, clarified that no life was lost in the September 11 disaster.

He expressed confidence that the relief materials will cushion the effect on victims.

Mr. Bijimi announced the readiness of the National Emergency Management Agency to give prompt responses to disaster, revealing that with the approval of the Chairman of the Governing Council, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, a zonal office of the agency has been established in Ibadan.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Oyo State Deputy Governor, who is also the Chairman, State Emergency Management Agency, (SEMA), Engr. Rauf Olaniyan said that the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde directed the immediate distribution of the materials to the beneficiaries irrespective of political affiliations.

 The Deputy Governor, who was represented by Member, Oyo House of Assembly, representing Irepo/Olorunsogo state constituency, Hon. Qozim Olayanju and Chairman, House Committee on Information, appealed to residents to take precautionary measures at averting flooding in the state.
