CHAN Eagles...before their departure...

Nigeria’s home based Super Eagles lost the first leg of their Final round first leg of the 2020 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Lome, Togo on Sunday.

Nigeria’s Sanusi Ibrahim scored in the 10th minute against the Sparrowhawks but the hosts equalised two minutes later through Yendoutie Richard Nana and so ended the first 45 minutes.

In the second-half the Sparrow hawks scored three goals in 25 minutes, including a penalty in the 773rd minute, to make it a no contest.

Togo went in front in the 63rd minute through Richard Nana following a goal mouth scramble.

Nine minutes later, Marouf Tchakei made it 3-1 for the hosts to make the score almost irreversible for the Super Eagles.

The hosts added one more goal just before full time to leave Imama Amapakabo with a mountain to climb in the return leg.

Next month, the Eagles will host the second-leg tie, but must score three unreplied goals or go one more than Togo did at Stade de Kégué in Lomé.
