“I can assure you all here that the salaries, pensions and arrears owed by the last administration in the State will all be paid off by my administration as we begin the journey into the second year of our second term in office. The arrears of the workers salaries is not a bad debt”.

“And for our teeming unemployed youths in the state, we shall create more jobs for them as we go ahead in the second year of our second coming. Equally, within out first year in office in our second coming, we have been able to bring back all those Development Partners that worked tirelessly with us during our first tenure in office back to the state. We are even expecting more of them to join us in developing the state to the level of our dreams and expectations.”
He listed some of the Development Partners to include the World Bank, UNDP, UNESCO and many others. My government has increased the number of youths involved in agricultural programmes in the state.
“Through the efforts of our government, Agriculture has become the mainstay of our economy. Our government is poised to ensure the construction of an Old People’s Home in the state which will help to serve as an avenue to cater old people.”
Fayemi equally used the opportunity of the state of the state address to seek the help of the people of the state in areas of prayers and their readiness to pay taxes so that his government can have enough resources to run his programmes.
He thanked the Ekiti State House of Assembly, the State Civil Service, his party men and women as well as the Deputy Governor and his amiable wife for their support, love and contributions over the last one year.
While giving his welcome address at the event, the Rt. Honourable Funminiyi Afuye, the Ekiti State House of Assembly Speaker expressed his satisfaction on the one year administration of Dr. John Kayode Fayemi in office in his second coming into the State.
Afuye noted with joy how God intervened in Ekiti’s matter to restore peace and end the period of oppression, ill tempered administration and the mis-governance of the immediate past administration in the state.
Afuye commended Fayemi for changing the negative narrative in the state since he came on board from ‘bole ka ja’, hedonistic and devious administration, to one that performs and delivers on its promises for the people of the state. Afuye condemned the level of impunity, financial recklessness and systematic dehumanization of the psyche of Ekiti people by Fayose.
