The governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi has been congratulated by his Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon.Gbenga Agbeyo on his one year anniversary as a second term governor of the state.
The Commissioner congratulated the Governor while speaking with Journalists in his office said the Governor has recorded monumental achievements within the one year of his administration.
Hon. Agbeyo asserted that the Governor has provided conducive and refined environment for the people of the state by responding quickly to prevent flooding and any other natural disasters in whatever form in the state.
Speaking on the efforts of the Governor to combat flood in the state, he said that on his assumption into office, Mr. Governor went round the state to identify flood ravaging and prone areas as to put in place preventive measures.
He said that the Governor has graciously approved drains of 26 water ways within Ado Metropolis to prevent flood.
The Commissioner also disclosed that the people’s Governor has approved the dredging of some major rivers in Ado and Ikere-Ekiti to expand the waterways and allow free flow of water.
According to him, waterways dredging work is currently going on in Onala/Balemo/Elemi/Afao Road, Ita-Eku/PolyRoad/Emirin, Awajin-Ureje, Ire-Akari and Omisanjana -Ureje 132KVA in Ado-Ekiti, the State Capital.
He also listed ongoing works at Ikere-Ekiti to include; Osun Stream, Reconstruction of failed culvert at Ajolagun and channelization of Ifedore/Temidire.
