The Oyo State House of Assembly has summoned the head of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and Group Medical Director, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso in the state to appear before it on Thursday, 24th October.
The purpose of their appearance is to brief the house on efforts being made at reconstructing the Ibadan-Iseyin and Oyo-Iseyin roads which has caused hardship for motorists.
The summon followed an appeal by the lawmaker representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju state constituency, Hon. Adeola Bamidele presented under matters of urgent public importance.
 Hon. Adeola called the attention of the House to the ongoing indefinite strike by transporters plying the road because of its deplorable situation.
He disclosed that the road is a federal road which had been constructed since 1948 and begging for attention, to ease movement of farm produce.
In his reaction, the Minority Leader of the House, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape informed the House on the sensitivity of the Oyo-Iseyin and Ibadan-Iseyin roads, saying that it has become impassable urging the house to write FERMA in Oyo state.
Also, member representing Oyo East/West, Hon. Kazeem Isiaka appealed to the federal government to include the reconstruction of the Ibadan-Oyo-Iseyin road in the 2020 budget.
While passing the resolution, the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin stated that the agency’s boss in Oyo state should appear before the assembly on Thursday, 24th October, 2019.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State House of Assembly has also directed the Chief Medical Director, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, and Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Hospitals Management Board to appear before it on the same day.
The speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, gave the directive following a motion moved by the legislator representing Oyo East/ Oyo West state constituency, Kazeem Isiaka tagged on “Urgent Need to Rescue Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Oyo Annex From Further Dilapidation.”
Hon. Ogundoyin noted that calls on the health stakeholders to appear before the House became necessary in order to hear from the horse’s mouth and ensure that the huge amount of money committed to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Annex Oyo is accounted for.
