Mr Ibrahim Magu, the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was on Thursday presented with an award for “Outstanding Performance.”

Magu earned the award from members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), under the aegis of NYSC Anti-corruption Community Development Service (CDS), Kwara State.

While presenting the award at the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Commission, its president, James  Onah stated that, “The EFCC is the only agency that can deliver the country from corruption.”

Addressing Magu, Onah said, “We urge you to continue doing the good job you are doing. The Anti-corruption Community Development Service appreciates the work of the Commission.”

Head of Ilorin Zonal Office of the EFCC, Mr Isyaku Sharu, who stood in for Magu at the occasion, commended the Corps members for joining the Commission in the fight against corruption, assuring them of the Commission’s maximum support.

“I am happy to receive you. We always look forward to meeting you people because you are our pride; you are the leaders of tomorrow.  I believe you can make this country great,” Magu stated.

Commenting on internet-based crime at the event, Magu noted that “Cyber crime is becoming something else. We must partner to tackle the menace. Internet fraud is taking the youth away from participating in what will fetch them legitimate income. We cannot continue on illegal business.”

He further used the occasion to admonish the youth to shun internet fraud and other social vices that would jeopardise their future.
