Members of the Oyo State House of Assembly have felicitated with Hon. Kazeem Olayanju over his victory at the Court of Appeal in Ibadan, the capital city of the state.
Among members who were with Hon. Olayanju in the court to show their solidarity were Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin and Majority Leader, Hon. Yusuf Adebisi, Deputy Chief Whip and Hon Adeola Bamidele, representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju state constituency.
The Court of Appeal at the time confirmed the victory of Hon. Kazeem Olayanju Orelope, representing Irepo/Olorunshogo state constituency.
The Court set aside the September 21, 2019 judgment of the Tribunal nullifying the victory of Hon. Olayanju at the 2019 Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
The Tribunal ruled in favour of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Mustapha Ajibola saying that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had no power to cancel election result of any polling unit.
It ruled further that the All Progressive Congress candidate, Ajibola be declared as the winner.
The appellate court, has therefore, ruled that the judgement of the tribunal lacks merit and thereby should be set aside.
The court also affirmed Hon. Olayanju as the authentic winner of the election in Irepo/Olorunsogo state constituency election.
In his reaction, Hon. Kazeem Olayanju thanked God, the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, his colleagues in the House of Assembly and the entire people of his constituency for the support and prayers.
He reassured the people of his constituency that he would deliver on his campaign promises.
Hon. Olayanju, however, called on his opponents to work with him to make meaningful impact on the lives of the people.
