Ekiti State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Prof. Adio Folayan has promised adequate support for the forthcoming Ekiti State Festival of Arts and Culture (EKIFEST) scheduled for Tuesday, 10th – Friday, 13th December, 2019.
Prof. Folayan gave the pledge while playing host to a team led by the Director-General of Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre in Ado-Ekiti.
The Commissioner remarked that the five-point Agenda of the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led administration were carefully selected to cater for all sectors in the State and charged organizers of the festival to use the opportunity to discover and promote the innate talents of Ekiti youths.
He promised the collaboration of the Ministry to all relevant stakeholders towards making the festival a success.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Sola Ogunmiluyi congratulated the Council for Arts and Culture for its recent brilliant performance in Benin, Edo State.
Mr. Ogunmiluyi urged them to put everything necessary in place to make the festival a huge success in other to restore the State’s core values.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre disclosed that the forthcoming festival will draw contingents from the sixteen councils of the State.
Mr. Ojo Lanre remarked that the festival was aimed at discovering talents, showcasing Ekiti natural resources, developing Ekiti socio-economic status and as well boost the Internally General Revenue (IGR) of the State, adding that the programme was not a fetish jamboree as some people insinuated.
He solicited the support of all Ekiti people and other stakeholders towards achieving success in the festival scheduled for Tuesday, 10th – Friday, 13th December, 2019.
