Minimum Wage: Fayemi Reaffirms Commitment To Workers

Dr Kayode Fayemi’s Government in Ekiti State has reiterated its commitment to the payment of the new minimum wage to workers in the state irrespective of their levels in the Service.

Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi gave the commitment while declaring open, Ekiti State Civil Service Week at Lady Jibowu Hall in Ado-Ekiti.

Governor Fayemi, who stated that his administration placed premium on merit in the recruitment of Staff in the State workforce, said he had equally received pressures from families, friends and associates, seeking his consent to assist their wards but had insisted on the recruitment that is based on merit.

He explained that a good number of workers have been trained at home and abroad for efficient service delivery, describing Commitment, Dignity and Loyalty as his administration’s watchwords.

The Head of Service, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi commended the Governor for his commitment towards the fulfillment of his electioneering promises, through regular payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities, loans disbursement, training and re-training of Public Servants in the state.

Ajayi, who affirmed that 955 officials have participated in various Local and International Capacity Development Programmes and Conferences within six months of this administration, thanked Mr. Governor for the appointment of Permanent Secretaries, General Managers and Executive Secretaries in the State Civil Service.

He charged Public Servants to reciprocate the gesture of government, stressing that the present administration has equally placed premium on the welfare of workers through the Governor’s approval of funds for re-skilling of the workforce.
