Oghenekaro Etebo, Super Eagles midfielder has been linked with Scottish Premiership side Heart of Midlothian who are considering the Nigeria international for a January move.

The 24-year-old has fallen out of favour with Potters boss Martin O’Neill since recovering from a muscle injury, making only two match-day squads and failing to appear off the bench in both matches.

However, according to Edinburgh Evening News, Hearts are looking at four Stoke City players ahead of the January transfer window, with Etebo among the players being targeted.

“Hearts have four Stoke City players on their list of potential January signing targets,” the website read.

“Manager Daniel Stendel is keen to recruit goalkeeper Adam Davies and centre-back Liam Lindsay having coached both at former club Barnsley. Midfielder Peter Etebo and striker Mame Diouf are also being looked at by the Edinburgh club.”

The Potters paid £6m for the Nigeria international when he joined the club from Feirense.

Hearts may not have the financial muscle to sign the central midfielder on a permanent deal but a loan move remains a possibility.

Etebo had a fantastic season during the 2018-2019 campaign, starting 29 Championship games and winning Stoke’s Player of the Year award but has only played 11 matches in the league this season.
