Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong, has hailed the composition of the team as one to expect greater things from in the future.
According to Troost-Ekong, the young players coming up within the team have been able to build a good profile for themselves in Europe due to their performance.
“When you look at the Nigerian team, you will agree with me that it is a team for the future. We have great young players that when they eventually mature will do great exploits,” he told Metro.
“Wilfred Ndidi is someone that is already doing so well and I think he’s going to be a big name; hopefully, a household name within Africa. We have (Samuel) Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen. They are both doing well and ready to go the next level.
“They are so important to their teams now and not yet at their peak. They are young and would go a long way in their careers.
“We should be proud of these players. At home, we may not know how big their profile is, but if you live in Europe, you can imagine their good profile.”
While Ndidi made the 10-man shortlist for the Africa Player of the Year award, Victor Osimhen and Chukwueze were on the three-man nomination list for the Youth Player of the Year award, which was eventually won by Ahraf Hakimi.
