Dr Kayode Fayemi’s government in Ekiti State has commiserated with the families of some workers of Ekiti State Government that were involved in a ghastly motor accident at Ara Ekiti, in Ijero Local Government while returning from the Annual General Meeting of a cooperative society of a government parastatal in Ado-Ekiti.
The Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr. Foluso Daramola, who was at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, and Ijero Specialist Hospital, Ijero Ekiti, to ascertain the health condition of the victims, was informed that three of the occupants of the eighteen passengers bus died in the accident while other passengers suffered various degrees of injuries.
Mr. Daramola commended the prompt response of the Divisional Police Office, Ijero, for coordinating the rescue operation and swift conveyance of the victims of the accident to the hospital.
Mr. Daramola, who said that the Ekiti State Government placed a high premium on the welfare of the less privileged in the society, promised that the State Government will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the survivors receive proper health care and as well ensure proper funeral for the three deceased persons.
As at the time of filing this story, one of the passengers was at the intensive care unit, while the remaining fifteen (15) passengers were receiving treatments at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti.
All the passengers in the bus are hearing and speech impaired, save for the driver of the bus Mr. Atanda Fatai.
According to the driver of the bus with registration number LAGOS XV 249 KSF, Mr. Atanda Fatai, the accident occurred as a result of brake failure.
The Principal of Special School for the Deaf and Dumb, Ikoro Ekiti, Mr. Akinwumi Ojo, denied the social media report that they were going to Odo Owa Ekiti in Ijero Local Government for his father’s burial.
He stated that he is an indigene of Ikere Ekiti, and that his father had died 35years ago.
Some of the relatives of the victims at the hospitals thanked Dr. Kayode Fayemi for his prompt response, by sending an Executive Council member to check on the health condition of the victims.
