It was a glorious day for veteran musician, Uncle Toye Ajagun when popular singer, Dr Yinka Ayefele, MON, led others to celebrate him as he turned 75.
It was also at the event that Ayefele revealed that he sharpened his guitar playing skills while working Uncle Toye Ajagun whose ‘Magbe Magbe’ record earned him worldwide accolade in the 70s.
The event, which took place during the week at Ayefele’s popular Music House, Challenge, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State on Thursday was attended by other members of Juju Music Band Leaders Association and other top entertainment personalities in Nigeria.
While speaking further, Ayefele said “Uncle Toye Ajagun was a wonderful boss in those days. I worked under him from 1985 till 1988. He ensured that he gave us trainings that would last us a lifetime. I am one of those who benefitted from this. And I will forever remain grateful to him for the gesture.
“In addition, most of us who have had one reason or the other to relate with Uncle Toye Ajagun have reasons to celebrate him because he is a good man. This is why you can see most of us here celebrating him.”
While responding, the celebrant thanked all those who have helped him in his career as a musician.
His words, “I am always a lucky man. God sent some key people to me to help my life. From Mushin in Lagos till I finally came to settle in Ibadan, God has remained faithful to me.”
The event was attended by Yinka James Adonai, Micho Ade, Semiu Adenekan (DJ Semight), PMParrot’s Olayinka Agboola, Taiwo Omotunde who was on the bandstand and several others.
