Stakeholders in the Health Sector Ekiti State while updating the media on the situation of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic in Ado Ekiti have revealed that 37 persons have been identified and been closely monitored out of a total of 41 persons suspected to have been infected with the deadly Virus in the State.
Major Health Stakeholders in the State such as the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Mrs. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, the DG, OCTDC, Professor Sam Aluko; the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Kayode Fayemi on Public Health, Dr. Jimlas Ogunsakin along with the representatives of the NCDC, WHO as well as that of the NEMA who were present at the press conference expressed the assurance that the health conditions of the 37 patients already identified and who are under close monitoring and surveillance of the health workers across the State are very stable.
Yaya – Kolade told the gathering that only four (4) out of the 41 contacts already identified are yet to be physically located in the State. She used the opportunity to call on the people of the State to report any case of anybody suspected to have been infected with the Virus in their vicinities to the officials of the Ministry of Health and Human Services in the State for prompt action.
According to Yaya-Kolade”the current index case for Ekiti State is stable. Surveillance officials are going round to do routine checks and to discover if there are new cases in the State. The suspects are at the moment very stable. Our surveillance teams are checking on the people already identified by going to their homes to check on them regularly and in the isolation centres. There are no sign of difficulty in breathing in them, no increase in temperature also.
“We have our Ekiti State Infectious Disease Centre we are preparing. We have our patients there. And they are very comfortable and cooperating with the health personnel attending to them. At the moment, we have partners that have come to the state such as the NCDC officials, the World Health Organization (WHO) officials as well as the NEMA. We are trying to alert everybody on what we need. The EOC’s are currently at the Emergency Operations Centres in the State been very vigilant and working very hard to ensure COVID 19 is totally stamped out from Ekiti State” she declared.
