As part of his Community Social Responsibility (CSR) and to help cushion the effect of the stay-at-home directive by Oyo State Government, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state, Awosika Omogoriola Damola (AOD) has distributed foodstuffs to about 200 households in Lagelu Local Government area of the state.
The event, which was held at an open space in Alegongo Secondary School, Akobo, Ibadan, witnessed the compliance with social distancing guideline by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
AOD, who is a graduate of Computer Science, while addressing the beneficiaries, disclosed that the saying that government cannot do it alone is not a joke, especially when the present situation in the country is critically examined.
He noted that it is part of responsibilities to give back to the society as a member of the NYSC. Awosika added that, this is why he decided to support the government by using his saved allowances to provide foodstuffs for the people in his locality.
The youth corper expressed his belief that the gesture in his little capacity will help to cushion the effect of stay-at-home order by the government to prevent further spread of the coronavirus in the state.
AOD used the opportunity to hint the people of his proposed pet project, AOD Foundation, stating that it is designed to reach out to the less privileged and vulnerable people within the communities in Lagelu Local Government area periodically.
The Corps member, while congratulating the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his quick recovery from coronavirus disease, also commended him for the measures put in place to stop the disease in Oyo State.
Awosika solicited for the support of the residents and indigenes of the state for the administration of Engr. Seyi Makinde to have a successful tenure.
He admonished the people to observe the established guidelines by the NCDC to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the State.
The foodstuffs distribution was witnessed by members of the caretaker committee and residents of the local government.
