The controversy surrounding the new contract of Nigeria’s Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr has finally come to a happy ending as the German football tactician has confirmed that he has received a contract offer from the Nigeria Football Federation.
Rohr, who became the handler of Nigeria national football team in August 2016, expressed that the new contract with the new clause is now with him and he will be happy to continue with the team.
“Personally I also discuss with my President on the future since I am at the end of the contract on June 30. I have just received a proposal for an extension. We will also have to look into this.
NFF president, Amaju Pinnick has earlier revealed that the Federation is willing to continue its contract with Rohr provided he accepts to reside in Nigeria, monitor potential Super Eagles players in the Nigerian Professional Football League and be paid in the local currency.
Speaking on Super eagles players, the former Burkina Faso coach said because of the COVID-19 pandemic, what is paramount to him now is the health of his players and the entire country.
“But it is especially the health of the players, of everyone, right now, that counts. In Nigeria, there are not a lot of cases, but there are some too.
“We are afraid for Africa, that it could worsen because the habits of life there make confinement very difficult. So I’m hearing from players from Nigeria,” Rohr concluded.
