The Chairman, Ekiti State COVID-19 Taskforce who doubles as the Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Gbenga Agbeyo has cleared the air on why the four Motorised Fumigators donated to the State Government by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Eniitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ojaja II are yet to be put to use by the Dr. Kayode Fayemi-led administration in the state.
Mr. Gbenga Agbeyo who gave the clarification while speaking with PMParrot in Ado Ekiti on Thursday afternoon, said “the four motorised fumigators donated to the Ekiti State Government by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Dr. Eniitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi are without Chemicals and other necessary and important items needed to make the fumigating exercise a worthwhile exercise in the state”.
According to the Chairman, the government has been fumigating some strategic areas in the state, stressing that the new motorised fumigators from the monarch are yet to be used.
“There are no funds to use to procure the Chemicals and other essentials to be used for the fumigation exercise. We plan to do that but not now since there are no funds to procure chemicals. They will be made use of before this lockdown is over. We won’t just use ordinary water without chemicals”, he stated.
He, however, expressed optimism that “the four motorised fumigators would be put to use by the Ekiti State Government once appropriate procedures have been taken care of and funds are approved to buy chemicals”.
It will be recalled that the Ooni of Ife gave the state four motorized fumigators to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
