As part of its readiness and eagerness to contribute its quota towards the curtailment and containment of coronavirus pandemic in Oyo State and Nigeria at large, Flour Mills Nigeria PLC has donated equipment worth millions of naira to the University College Hospital(UCH), Ibadan.
The donation of items which took place at UCH’s premises on Thursday saw the following being given to the hospital – 4 oxylators, 1 Triology, 1600 masks, 20,000 gloves, 80 Coverall Tvek, 350 Coverall Non-Woven and 70 Goggles for both hospital and laboratory.
Mr Wale Adediran, The Group Executive Director, Human Resources of the Flour Mills Nig. PLC, Apapa Lagos spoke on behalf of Flour Mills’ Chairman.
In his discussion, Adediran said that UCH, Ibadan needed to be commended for steps taken so far to curb the spread of coronavirus pestilence.
He added that the hospital has been proactive, diligent and selfless in containing and curtaining the pandemic since its outbreak and prevalence in the state.
Adediran stressed that the Flour Mills’ donation of equipment to UCH was premised on mutual and cordial relationship to fight the scourge in Oyo State, Nigeria and the world at large.
Mr. Adediran, who is also the President and Chairman of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, said further that “during these trying times, we need to come together as a people to fight COVID-19 which is casting a shadow on our ways of life in Nigeria and the world”, adding “We believe that with continued and adequate interventions, we can fight this pandemic.
“For a company like ours that shares such a deep connection with Nigeria and her people for over 60 years, we understand the immense pressure this has on the health sector”, Mr. Adediran pointed out.
The company also donated some items to the College of Medicine, which were received by the Deputy Provost, Prof. Obafunke Denloye.
While responding, Dr. Victor Akinmoladun, Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo appreciated Flour Mills Nig.PLC for its kindness and willingness to identify with the hospital at this critical time that COVID-19 is ravaging the UCH, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
Akinmoladun stressed that the donation of multi millions naira equipment came at a time that their usefulness would be highly needed by the hospital to curtail and contain the deadly disease.
He eulogized the management of Flour Mills PLC for donating the items, praying that God will bless the organization in many folds.
