The news of the demise of the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who died at age 70 after battling coronavirus-related symptoms for a month has thrown his Ibadan home into somber mood.

PMParrot gathered that he died in the afternoon of Thursday.

Ajimobi, who was governor from 2011 to 2019, was named the Acting National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress last week but never resumed.

The Ibadan-born politician was hospitalised at First Cardiologist and Cardiovascular Consultants Hospital, Lagos on June 2, 2020.

He was said to have tested negative for COVID-19 but the illness had caused his health to deteriorate.

Many residents of Ibadan, as at the time of writing this story have still not  believed the reality of the departure of the politician to the great beyond.

Son of Chief Bola Ige, Arc Muyiwa Ige, while reacting said “I’m yet to believe. He was such a wonderful man. I will miss him so much.”

Meanwhile, an unconfirmed family source informed that his remains will be ferried to Ibadan and buried in his Oluyole Estate home on Friday afternoon.
