Nigeria’s sensational youngster, Taiwo Awoniyi has returned to his English Premier League parent club, Liverpool following the conclusion of his loan deal with German Bundesligas side, Mainz 05.
According to the club sporting director, Rouven Schröder revealed that Awoniyi could still play for the German club next season because he is not eligible to represent the Premier League champions in the Premier League due to his work permit hurdle.
“He went back to Liverpool on July 1st, and we can imagine that things will continue for us under certain parameters,” Schröder said.
Awoniyi, who suffered a health scare when he clashed heads with Augsburg defender, Felix Udoakhai and lost consciousness before hitting the ground, has previously enjoyed loan spells at FSV Frankfurt, NEC, Royal Excel Mouscron and KAA Gent, before joining Mainz on a season-long loan last August.
He made twelve appearances for the Zerofivers in the Bundesliga in the recently concluded season, scoring one goal against FC Cologne.
