Tension was high at the University of Ibadan’s College of Medicine voted on Wednesday to produce its new Provost.
When PMParrot visited the University College Hospital Ibadan-based College on Wednesday, visitors were being prevented from entering the administrative building of the College because voting was ongoing.
At the end of the day, Professor Yinka Omigbodun defeated others to emerge as the new Provost of the College which has four other Faculties under it.
A prominent member on PMParrot’s Whatsapp Platform (Friends of Parrots) informed on Thursday morning that “Prof Yinka Omigbodun is the first female Professor of Psychiatry in Nigeria and now first female Provost of the College of Medicine, Ibadan.
“Prof Omigbodun, whose husband, Prof Oluyinka Omigbodun, a Professor of Obys and Gynaecology was a former Provost of the same Institution, is the daughter of the late Lt Col Victor Banjo of the Nigerian Civil War fame”.
Professor Omigbodun will now succeed Professor Emiola Oluwabunmi Olapade-Olaopa who is being rumoured to be interested in the seat of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan.
