The government of Prince Dapo Abiodun in Ogun State, through its Teaching Service Commission has announced that it will soon appoint and inaugurate Four Principals General for the four educational zones to further improve on the effective monitoring and adminstration of schools across the State.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, stated this while presenting the achievements of the Commission before the members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology led by Hon. Adeyemi Ademuyiwa in Abeokuta.
Mrs. Soyombo canvassed for lawmakers’ support for the smooth redistribution of teachers to achieve appreciable teacher to students ratio, stating that the Commission would reel out guidelines for the adoption of more community-based schools, with a view to ensuring conformity with quality of infrastructure.
She noted that about 500 new community school teachers had been absorbed, while 109 Principals and eight Zonal Secretaries were inducted within the period under review; while the approval for the recruitment of 1650 teachers was ongoing with that of the appointments of four Principals General.
On the activities of the State Universal Basic Education Board, ( SUBEB) Mrs. Soyombo stated that approval had been granted for the recruitment of 1,500 of teachers to ameliorate the existing vacancies in the public primary schools in the State, which was at the final stage.
She added that a total of 952 UBEC/SUBEB projects were ongoing in all public primary and junior secondary schools across the State.
On his part, the Ag. Rector of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, said that the Polytechnic had continued to provide qualitative education during the pandemic through e-learning, adding that the management was making efforts to adjust towards overcoming the challenge of covid 19, so as to meet the educational demand of the students.
