Stoke City’s Return To EPL: Mikel Obi Pledges To Help

Former Nigeria’s Super Eagles skipper, Mikel Obi has revealed that he is ready to help his new English Championship side, Stoke City regain their English Premier League position back.

Stoke City was relegated to the Championship in 2018 after 10 years stay in the prestigious English Premier League.

Mikel, who dumped his Turkish Super Lig side, Trabzonspor on mutual consent on March 17 this year, returned to English football after signing a one-year contract with the Michael O’Neil led Potters ahead of the coming season.

According Stoke City website, the former Chelsea player said although he had many offers from top flight club but decided to settle for Stoke City because he has a firm believe that he will play a great part in the club return to English Premier League.

“I have other options but after speaking with the manager, I believe this is the best place for me to continue my career.

“I still want to win, I still want to achieve great things, this club belongs to the premier league and hopefully, I can help gain promotion,” Mikel said.

The former Lyn Oslo defensive midfielder, who spent 11 years in Chelsea, helping them to land the Premier League title twice, as well as three FA Cups, the Champions League, and Europa League, promise to bring the much-needed winning mentality into the team to make their Premier League dream return a reality.
