Poll: How APC Candidates Won At 18 LGs In Ondo, To Be Sworn-In On Monday

The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has officially announced and declared the 18 All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairmanship Candidates in the State as winners of the Local Government Election held on Saturday in the State.

Announcing and declaring the results of the local government election on Sunday, the Chairman of the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) in Ondo State, Professor Yomi Dinakin while addressing mediamen at the headquarters of the Commission located along the Oba – Ile road in Akure quoted a section of the Ondo State Electoral Commission law 2006 which states that section 31 of Electoral Act 9 Paragraph 11 of 74 of the local government system establishment and administration of local government council chapter 87.

He declared the five local government areas who were unopposed returned elected on the basis of the provisions stated above. Dinakin listed the five local government areas to include Odigbo, Ose, Ifedore, Irele and Akoko Northeast.

Speaking further, Professor Yomi Dinakin, the ODIEC Chief Electoral Officer officially declared Folawe Sipasi-Aluko who polled a total of 29,360 votes to emerge as the duly elected Chairman for the Ese-Odo local government area; total votes of 14,174 for Hon. Paul Adurojoye for Akoko Southeast; total votes of 24,238 for Barrister Gbenga Olaniyi in Akure South lga; total votes of 40,009 for Hon. Olamigoke Ojatuwase in Ilaje lga; total votes of 13,250 for Hon. Akinsuroju Michael Temidayo in Ile-Oluji Okeigbo lga; total votes of 34,721 for Hon. Igbekele Akinrinwa in Okitipupa lga; total votes of 54,292 for Hon. Ebenezer Akinsulire in Ondo West and total votes of 42,742 for Hon. Agbebi Samuel in Owo.

Others as declared by the ODIEC Chairman included Hon. Surveyor Bankole Gabriel Ogbesetore who polled a total votes of 10,541 in Akure North lga; Hon. Aroloye Kayode Adebambo who scored a total votes of 28,200 in Idanre lga; Hon. Ayodele Samson Akande had a total votes of 25,635 for the Akoko Northwest lga; Hon. Akinkuotu Olawale polled a total votes of 36,252 for Ondo East lga and Hon. Oloruntogbe O. Augustine had a total votes of 29,109.

The party also cleared a total of 194 Councillorships seats out of the total of 198 wards / councilor-ship seats in Ondo State. Results in the remaining four local government areas were declared inconclusive. A total of seven political parties participated in the exercise held on Saturday.

Professor Yomi Dinakin revealed that the bye-election into the inconclusive four councillorship seats in Ondo State would be done at a later date to be announced and communicated to the media at the appropriate time.

Official presentation of the certificates of return were immediately given to all the 18 local government elected Chairmen at the ODIEC Headquarters in Akure after the results were announced and declared by the Chief Electoral Officer.

Also, a reliable source revealed that the swearing – in for the 18 elected local government Chairmen by the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is expected to hold on Monday morning, August 24th, 2020 at the Akure DOME by 9am.
