The National Secretariat of Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN), an affiliate of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has expressed its sympathy over the death of former Super Eagles’ defender, Ajibade Babalade who died at the weekend.
In the condolence message jointly signed by the President of the Association, Comrade Ahmed Aigbona and the Secretary-General, Comrade Mike Oboh, described the death of Ajibade Babalade as a great lost, stating that it was a shocking news to all SWAN members in the country.
The SWAN President explained that Ajibade Babalade was a great defender with virtue of patriotism.
Aigbona extended his condolences to the Oyo state Government, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), all members of SWAN in the state, 3SC Football Club and the entire family of the deceased, while also praying that may God Almighty forgive the deceased of his shortcomings.
“As Sports Writers, we are saddened with the death of the ex international who left us at a time that the upcoming footballers are still gaining from his wealth of experiences.
“Our prayer is that may God Almighty give his family and 3SC, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” Aigbona prayed.
Information received by National Secretariat of SWAN revealed that Ajibade Babalade died of cardiac arrest in Ibadan at the age of 48.
